ONE TO ONE MENTORING

Rite Mentoring has teamed up with schools, local community organisations and families to offer a one to one mentoring opportunity for primary or secondary aged young people.

ONE TO ONE
MENTORING

ONE TO ONE

Our one to one mentoring program combines mentoring with elements of case management. Young people needing additional support develop short and long term goals collaboratively with their mentor. The structures and timeframes for the relationship are then enacted through a plan agreed with stakeholders (such as a family member, school or community agency).

THE MENTOR

Our mentors are adults who have been screened and trained to create safe spaces for young people. They are ordinary people from a range of backgrounds who want to support others to reach their full potential. Your mentor may be a paid Rite Mentoring staff member or a Rite Mentoring volunteer.

HOW IT WORKS?

The young person and mentor will generally meet up on a weekly or fortnightly basis for an hour or so. During the mentoring session, the pair might hang out playing a game or sport, try a new activity, have a chat about something or grab a bite to eat. The real value emerges from the simplicity of this model of presence, trust and support.
